Neighborhood Schools - (submitted 2003)

by Stina D’Uva

  • MetroWest Elementary School - a "A" school, a Golden Apple, Five Star school award recipient. This 12-year-old, community school receives a $10,000 grant each year from our developer, Debra Inc. In the 1999/2000 school year, M.W.E. became home to a prototype facility which houses and educates Pre-K - Grade 2 students. The PLC has approximately 24 student per class. Third through 5th grade students remained in the existing facility and has class sizes of approximately 25 students. Each school operates individually, supervised by a new principal, a local resident. It's like having two schools to serve the MetroWest community, with the convenience of one campus. The phone number is 407-296-6450.

  • Gotha Middle School - a Golden Apple, Five Star School award recipient, and a "A" School. This technology rich school has gotten better each of its six years. In the 1999/2000 school year, the rezoning resulted in residents of MetroWest Planned Development west on Hiawassee to remain zoned to G.M.S.. The students of FC at M.W.E. are joined by students of Windermere Elementary School, Lake Whitney, and Frangus. G.M.S. has truly become a community school and it continues to get better and better. The phone number is 407-521-2360.

  • Olympia High School – opened in August of 2001 and has recently earned a "B" rating. The students for this school haveSchool Front Picture been rezoned from Dr. Phillips and West Orange High Schools. This new school is located on Apopka-Vineland Road and Conroy-Windermere Road, and offers all the academic, extra-curricular, and sports activities as the neighboring high schools. The phone number is 407-905-6400.

We are all proud of Fairway Cove and its wonderful, neighbor friendly features. We have created a true sense of community in this fast growing city of Orlando. We have security, good neighbors, schools, shops, a golf course, and easy access to 1-4 and the 408/East-West Expressway. As they say, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!

Editor's note: WEBSITE UNDERGOING RENOVATION.

I took over maintenance of this website in Spring 2006, (formerly www.omninexus.com/fc). At present, much of the content of this site was taken the old site, since it's so new. Admittedly, much of it is out of date. However, in the upcoming weeks, it will be continually upgraded to include many new features and more up to date content. Your patience in the meantime is most appreciated.
